|Please note the following addenda to our Terms & Conditions, particularly those pertaining to potential buyers who come to us via the internet. It is very important that you read all our terms and conditions before registering to bid. All bids submitted are regarded as acknowledgement that the bidder has read and accepts Chorley's Terms & Conditions of Sale and will submit any specific personal details requested to verify their intention and ability to comply with those conditions.|
Registration in Person:
The auctioneers reserve the right to refuse admission to the saleroom premises or participation in any auction, and to reject any bid. They may accept, at their complete discretion, bids from those present in the saleroom, written commission bids left in advance of the auction, and an indication of intention to bid from those who wish to bid by telephone or online. Before the sale commences, prospective bidders are required to complete and sign a registration form including their name and permanent address, in order to obtain a numbered bidding paddle. New clients, or those who have not made a purchase at our saleroom within the last two years, will be asked to supply proof of identity and address. Lots purchased will be invoiced to the name and address on the registration form.
If you wish to bid at our sale but are unable to register in person at Chorley's saleroom, we will require proof of identity and residence, for example a driver's licence photocard or passport and current utility bill, or alternatively you can register your proposed payment card through our Payment & Registration page. We would ask you to make a payment of £1.00 in order to have your card details verified and we will refund this payment to you as soon as it reaches us. You will receive an automatic reply/receipt from SAGE PAY upon completion of the payment and you will then be authorised to bid with us by any means for all future auctions. If you do not receive this confirmation, please contact us, as it would appear that your registration has not reached us and your bids will not be executed.
You can leave a commission (absentee) bid with us over the telephone, via email or by completing a form when you come to view. Commission bids will be executed by the auctioneer at the lowest possible price, taking into account any reserve and competing bids, up to your maximum figure.
You can book a telephone up until the day before the auction and we will call you to bid over the phone during the sale. Lines are limited and allocation is on a first-come first-served basis. We reserve the right to use discretion regarding the booking of lines for lots under the value of £400.
Live Online Bidding:
Chorley's sales offer buyers the facility to bid live online through third party platforms. Please note that as well as buyer's premium, lots purchased in this way may attract an additional charge for this service. All potential buyers will be required to submit identification details and credit/debit card details when they register to bid live online. Bidders will be approved and activated for live online bidding at our discretion.
Chorley's strongly advises viewing onsite in person, or through an agent, and stresses that any descriptions, condition reports and images supplied to the absentee bidder are an opinion provided by this firm and do not guarantee the condition, age or any other characteristic of the lot in question. The absence of a condition report in our online catalogue does not mean that the lot is without defect, only that a condition report has not been requested.

All buyers must arrange payment and collection of their lots by 5pm on the Friday after the auction.

Unless otherwise agreed with the Auctioneers, any lots remaining at the saleroom at this time will incur a removal charge of £10 plus storage fees of £2 per lot per day, all charges subject to VAT. Please note that we do not accept payment by cheque or absentee payments over the telephone.
We can recommend, without liability, appropriate courier/carrier firms for collection of goods; however both the insuring and carriage charge is entirely the responsibility of the purchaser. At our discretion, and on receipt of a written disclaimer from the purchaser, we may be able to pack and post some small and non-fragile goods to the best of our ability; please enquire before the auction if this service will be available for the lot on which you intend to bid. Goods will not be released to any other person or posted to any other address than that registered prior to the auction. Collections by couriers will only be accepted upon receipt of written instructions from the registered bidder. Collections by taxi or unconfirmed other parties will be refused.
