A Japanese Samurai suit of armour, Edo period, mounted on a wooden stand, the helmet (kabuto) with gilt mon to the ear tabs, lacquer face plate (menpo) with moustache, throat guard (yodare-kake), cuirass (do) with gilt mon, kusazuri, leg protectors (haidate) and greaves (suneate)/Note: The mon, like a crest in European Heraldry may not be specific to one family. The mon on this armour is that of the Utsonomiya clan, the Kobayakawa clan and the Saionji family (Hidarimitsutomoe)
