Dating to around 1902 this chair is a rare example of the early period of Bugatti's design clearly influenced by Moorish furniture and exists in very limited numbers. A similar chair is to be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, accession number 1970.181.2. A similar chair can also be seen in The Musem Boijmans van Beuningen

Dating to around 1902 this chair is a rare example of the early period of Bugatti's design clearly influenced by Moorish furniture and exists in very limited numbers. A similar chair is to be found in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, accession number 1970.181.2. A similar chair can also be seen in The Musem Boijmans van Beuningen

Small areas of retouched black paint underneath with signs of old woodworm, small losses to bone inlay, some signs of old woodworm damage - no longer active. Small restoration to the bases of the column supports. Signs of wear, fading and scuffing commensurate with age and use. Small old repair to crest of backrail, curved toprail with old, but stable split to back. Joints stable with slightly racking underneath. Redowelled seat to one side. Scattered uneven fading. Small crack underneath near joint of leg supports. wear and fading to base of legs.
