Footnote:The binding is reminiscent of the work of the Scottish bookbinder James Scott (d. 1785/6) who was succeeded by his son William. Scott worked in Edinburgh's old town from the early 1770s to the early 1780s. A similar binding can be seen in the National Library of Scotland on John Milton's Paradise Lost (Bdg.m.146)
Herbert 1196; Darlow & Moule 887. This and the folio Oxford edition of the same year are known as the Oxford "Standard" editions, being a revision of the Authorised version by Benjamin Blayney following the lines of Paris’s Cambridge edition of 1762.
