It bears an original typed label to the lower left, reading: 'The original cut in marble by Eric Gill is the property of the Brighton Municipal School of Art. Lent by the Victoria and Albert Museum. Circ. 1928-13.'

Significant wear to the wooden frame, with noticeable hairline cracks across the plaster surface and some more general areas of loss and abrasion.
