Provenance:These buttons have a connection with the famous huntsman John Peel but it is not suggested that they were on his coat ‘so gray’. The buttons were given by Mary Peel his widow to her housekeeper Sarah Bean and were passed down through her family until sold by her Great-Great Grandson in 2003.

These buttons have a connection with the famous huntsman John Peel but it is not suggested that they were on his coat ‘so gray’. The buttons were given by Mary Peel his widow to her housekeeper Sarah Bean and were passed down through her family until sold by her Great-Great Grandson in 2003.
Buttons are 28mm diameter. Overall condition is good, some light wear in line with age and usage. Most of the buttons are marked with makers mark and lion passant, but two have makers mark only.
