A fine pair of large Grodnertal pedlar dolls, circa 1830, in original condition and preserved under glass domes, both carrying baskets of wares including paper fans, 'jet' jewellery, spoons, string bags, bootees and a red Morocco box, he wearing a cotton smock over his black suit, white shirt and necktie, a straw hat on his head and delicate curls painted around his face, she with brown check dress, white apron red cloak and bonnet, on original wooden stands, dolls 38cm high, domes 46cm high (2)

Female doll. Loss to top of head. Craquelure to back of head. Face looks good, some yellowing to varnish. Moth damage to back of red cloak. General condition commensurate with age. Limbs present and working.

Male doll. Craquelure and a flake or two to face. Hole to top of head. Basket a bit bent and dusty. Limbs present and joints working.
