Wilton House

Wilton House: A rare English baby house, late 18th or early 19th Century, commercially made in London and of grand proportions, the facade with five bays, three storeys and a central pediment, the elegant doorcase with an arched fanlight above a six-panelled door, the original yellow brick finish divided by stone-coloured string courses, further windows to the sides, the interior containing an entrance hall, kitchen and five panelled rooms with detailed finely proportioned fire surrounds flanked by cupboards with panelled doors and brass drop handles, the kitchen with a spit rack, 121cm wide, 41cm deep, 112cm high [dolls' house]

This house was much coveted by Vivien Greene and was regarded by her as 'one of the ones that got away'. See Vivien Greene with Margaret Towner, The Vivien Green Dolls' House Collection (1995), p.17 for her recollection of seeing the house some time later on display at '...at a great country house.'
