French movement, gong striking movement, stamped S Martin, no 39246, numbered pendulum, in a rectangular case with florally carved spandrels, blue and white dial and ceramic plaques with the lettering 'Night Shade' and 'Day's Eye', 38cm high

The painted enamel decorations taken from Day's publications including Everyday Art and Nature and Ornament c1880. A similar clock was exhibited at the Paris Exhibition of 1878

Movement ticking and striking but will require a service, dial with slight chipping around winding squares, case in overall good condition, pendulum and key
