Footnote:

Jean Baptiste Gaston (1608–1660) was the third son of King Henry IV of France and Navarre and his second wife, Marie de' Medici and eldest surviving brother of King Louis XIII. In 1643, upon the death of Louis XIII, Gaston became lieutenant-general of France, and fought against Spain on the northern frontiers of France.

Henry Edward Bunbury (1778–1860)

Jean Baptiste Gaston (1608–1660) was the third son of King Henry IV of France and Navarre and his second wife, Marie de' Medici and eldest surviving brother of King Louis XIII. Joints worn and cracked, spine sunned, several scuffs and scratches to leather, extremities rubbed and worn, corners bumped and worn, loss to head of spine, pasted paper label apparently from old auction house to ffp with ink ex libris inscription partially defaced, half title with similar defaced ex libris inscription, margin of engraved title with small smudge, Pp4 with loss to upper right corner, internally generally bright with minor spotting and some fold mark from folded down corners. G4 with creasing as pictured
