Filippo Lauri/Vulcan at his forge before a bas-relief of Hercules and the Lernaen Hydra/oil on paper laid on canvas, 27.25cm x 21.25cm (10.75" x 8.75")/Provenance: Dr Bragge 1774 according to inscription on reverse. The Dealer and collection Robert Bragge (died 1777) is recorded in Italy in buying pictures from the Ottoboni Collection for Dr Thomas Newton as well as from himself. Pier Leone Ghezzi (1674-1755) drew his portrait, which was subsequently engraved by Arthur Pond. He was a regular importer of pictures to England Bears old Christie's catalogue description. This Bozzetto formed part of a series; another design of similar size was sold as part of the Marshall collection, Bonhams, London,/28th March 1974 lot 34
