Chorley’s Auctioneers is to offer The Ombersley Court Library collected by the English aristocratic family of Sandys across five centuries.

Proceeds of the sale will will be donated to the Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust (Charity 1127871).

Hartlebury Castle is a historic Worcestershire estate first given to Bishop Aelhun in 855AD. Home of the Bishops of Worcester until 2007. it has a longstanding connection with the Sandys family throughout its history.

Lind: XXIV +119pp, 'A' would appear to be the blank leaf before the title page (A2). It bears the inscription 'from the author' verso. Spine a little dry and lightly rubbed, generally a fine copy with scattered light spotting and toned endpapers

Falck: Title + XX + 244pp, folding plate at pp 241, Endpapers and Title page browned at edges, ditto last 2/3 leaves, lacking label, joints sound with minor cracking, spine darkened, cover with light wear, corners lightly bumped, pastedowns and endpapers a little foxed, hinges cracked, scattered light foxing
