The modern art and contemporary furniture from one of today’s most talked-about British country houses are to be offered for sale at auction. The exquisite former contents of Ready Token House, currently known to millions as the ‘Omaze Cotswolds’ property, will go under the hammer in the forthcoming Modern Art & Design sale at Cotswold-based Chorley’s auctioneers. Featured in Country Life, the interior design seamlessly blends English traditional with contemporary design.
Highlights from the house include a collection of 12 original paintings by celebrated British artist Edward Seago, the official coronation artist for Queen Elizabeth II who also accompanied Prince Philip on his world tour, whose evocative works have long been sought after by collectors worldwide. Born and brought up in Norfolk, Seago bought the Dutch House in Ludham in 1945. The sea was only six miles away, and he often sailed his yacht, Capricorn, down the East Anglian coast to paint in the estuary of the River Orwell in Suffolk.
