Flora and Fauna | Fine Art & Antiques Auction 22 & 23 June

Summer has finally arrived, and our June sale is bursting with colourful and decorative antique ceramics and paintings, many of which have floral, animal and avian motifs. A smart pair of Derby Crown moon flasks, with gilt handles and exquisite decoration of birds in blossom branches, carries an estimate of £250-350 (Lot 330). A rare Derby dry-edge model of a ewe will be sought-after by collectors, £800-1,200 (Lot 352) and a Meissen ornithological dessert service decorated with birds and insects asks £300-500 (Lot 283).
Leading an extensive Asian Art section is a sensational pair of Japanese embroidered panels which have been mounted on blue silk to form curtains. Believed to date from the late 19th Century, the panels are decorated with hens and cockerels below cascading wisteria blossoms, with two further cockerels on a third panel which now forms a pelmet, estimate £2,000-3,000 (Lot 360). At over 3 metres high, these will require a room with a very high ceiling!
