**POSTPONED TO MARCH** Porcelain Perfection | Private collection to be sold in January

Among an extensive selection of Ceramics in our next auction, a private collection of Worcester porcelain, made circa 1750-60, and purchased in London between 1984 and 1993, is sure to attract interest.  The items in the group are of exceptional provenance, having been sourced by the vendor from many renowned collections and each piece chosen for its rarity and charm.

Dating from the mid-18th Century, these delicate treasures are from an age of affluence, elegance and enlightenment, when a passion for Chinese porcelain was in full swing in England and many of the lots in the sale are hand painted with anglicized versions of Chinese decoration.  The widespread interest in natural history also had an influence on designs and gave rise to the manufacture of detailed porcelain figures of animals such as the Chelsea white model of an owl (one of only a handful known) to be offered in our auction, estimate £15,000-20,000.  The wine funnel, starting life as a practical item albeit incredibly exclusive, has now also become a prized rarity - one of only 14 polychrome examples known, estimate £10,000-15,000.
